Define “a fortune”. I know this is too far from you but around here you can sometimes find a driveable 5th gen that is reasonably priced.

I’d say paypal me the cash I’ll go get it, but even i dont want to drive to Hibbing. it’s about 2 hours west of Duluth and its the most boring 2 hour drive I’ve ever experienced .

Yeah, road salt does baaaaaaad things to all cars really, but especially old GM steel. I bet it’s tough to find one in your area . If you’re really digging the idea of an Elky, check out https://www.elcaminocentral.com/ . It’s a great bunch of people and there is a ton of info on all generations of El Camino.
